By the Director General – Mr. Jone Usamate

Greetings! It is with much pleasure that I introduce to you, the 2010 Training Handbook.

The handbook is written and distributed to those engaged in TPAF’s experiences. It includes detailed information on the training services provided by TPAF in 2010 and therefore acts as a guide for your own personal development or to assist in the development of staff in your organization. TPAF, also the National Productivity Organization (NPO) for Fiji, with assistance from the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) aims to accomplish the national standing for productive and high quality training, consultancy and commitment with industries, professions and other communities.

Our new mission; to work in the national interest, develop human capital, facilitate productivity improvement and assist organizations to raise their performance renews and invigorates the priorities and strategies for the organization that will broaden and enhance the services we provide to our students, communities and partners in the coming years.

One of our major functions, as a training institution is to help you meet your education and training needs in ways that match your interests and requirements. In order to do this, we undertook a Training Needs Survey of over 1000 organizations, visited and discussed training needs with more than 600 industries and also organized 33 Industry Focus Group Meetings.

This handbook contains details of some of the programs that we offer in partnership with Western Sydney Institute of TAFE-NSW, Qantas Airways, SAI Global, National Safety Council of Australia, Australian Computer
Society, Microsoft, Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), Pearson WE and professional practitioners and resource persons internationally. For the most part, these programs are flexible and a program
of study can be developed to meet your needs and interest.

Like all the other years, 2010 does not seem to be any easier. Continued training and increased productivity is a critical element for the nation and TPAF will continue to play its part towards the total development of the
nation.

I hope that the handbook will be beneficial to you and encourage you to use our website, www.tpaf.ac.fj to source more about your training needs or other latest information.

Also a very warm Christmas greetings and an early New Year cheer; a wish that you find every success in your course!
