Physical disability is an affliction that can strike anyone, either right from birth or subsequently. Mr. Tasweek Ali is a deaf and dumb young lad, who has recently taken up studies with Lautoka Centre’s Technical Training.
Tasweek, 22, was born in Saweni, Lautoka. He explains that he is the only boy child in a family of four, three of whom are girls. Tasweek received his primary and secondary school education at the Ba Special School. He then worked with his father, who is a Private Contractor for the past six years.

Content with industrial building works as his future career path, he has taken up brick block layer/ plasterer program, and explains why:

“I want to secure a plasterer post in one of the major building companies, since it is a specialized trade which is quite difficult to get into without appropriate training.

“I am thankful that TPAF has accepted me and has made provision of interpreters for such students, so that learning, communication and development is made easy.

Lessons are not so easy and more so the reviews however Tasweek is fully determined to sail through.

“Tasweek has passed his review test quite well and is at his level best during the practical training assessment sessions,” says Trainer Akuila Raibe.

One thing is for certain: Tasweek Ali is headed in that direction, because what clearly comes across in his remarks and general disposition points to the sky being the ceiling for an excessively ambitious person like him.
